A New Team Member!
Surprise!! Yes, this new team member is not yet born, but is due mid-September of this year! Rob and I are expecting this little baby that you see above and are overjoyed! I am three months along, and beginning to show just a tiny bit (at least my pants don't fit too well now). These sonogram pictures (called "echographies" in French), were taken last week, on March 1st. We were able to see many different angles and parts of the baby, but these were the cutest and most baby-like ones of all. We even, after it decided to turn over and face us, were blessed to see it jumping all around, open and close it's mouth, suck it's thumb, and even wave at us (really!). The doctor said that according to what she saw, the baby appears to be healthy and growing strong.
We are so thankful to God for giving us this little gift and are anticipating eagerly the day that we get to meet him or her in person. We are also thankful for a few other things, like our doctor. We somewhat randomly (though on a recommendation) chose this doctor, Dr. Charra. So far, we have been so pleased with her. She is very laid back and personable. She spends as much time as we need with us, and being certified in sonogram reading, she does them right in her office, which is very convenient, and nice to have the doctor telling you what she sees. She is very patient with us when we don't understand the French terms or way of doing things, and is helping us set up everything from payments to length of stay, etc., at the hospital here in Chambery, where, Lord willing, we plan to deliver several months down the road.
My morning sickness has not been bad at all. There were a few rough days, but for the most part, I have been very lucky. I have been taking naps every day for three months, though, so that has been interesting. And my cravings are always in abundance! Of course, though, they are always for things that you can't buy in France! I have been lucky though, to have people mail me or bring me things from the states. And the Lord has also joined in satisfying my food cravings. One day, after craving jelly donuts for several days, and even dreaming about them, we were in a grocery store here, and found JELLY DONUTS! They don't even have donuts in France, but for some reason, there they were! After Jelly donuts, I was craving cake donuts (the kind with the white frosting and sprinkles), well, this weekend, on our anniversary trip, we were in a Starbucks, and guess what they had...cake donuts, with white frosting and little sprinkles! Wow! We couldn't believe it. Don't worry, though, I have had healthier craving, like mandarin oranges, applesauce, beef, pomelos, and strawberries. And luckily, you can find most of those here!
